An Anonymous commenter asked the following about a previous post about Palin as VP.

I know this is rather a moot point, but what IF Sarah Palin had either chosen NOT to have children OR could NOT have children? What if her children were all grown? What if she were not even a wife? Or a widow? Would it still be wrong for her to preach? Would it be wrong for her to be VP – or even President? If not, why?

I responded with the following thoughts.

It really isn’t a moot point because we can get all our standards from God’s Word. All Scripture is useful for instruction in righteousness.

Man being head over women is a part of the curse in the Garden of Eden.

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. KJV

In I Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. KJV

This does not say just wives or mothers, but woman. A man should be the head of a woman just as Christ is head of a man.

1 Cor 14:34-35
34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church
. KJV

Women are specifically told to be silent in the church, and if they have a question to ask their husband at home. Women are also not to have authority over the man.

1 Tim 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. KJV

This verse is not referring only to the church but because it is also in the context of a woman dressing modestly, which applies for more than just at church.

Other verses that apply to the roles of women are Titus 2:5, Genesis 24:60, and Ephesians 6:1-4.

These verses apply to choosing leaders – Exodus 18:21, Deuteronomy 1:13, Deut. 16:18-20; 17:14-20; 2 Sam. 23:3; 2 Chron. 19:6-7; Neh. 7:2; Prov. 29:2; Rom. 13:1-6 – and all instances are referring to men.

If God so chose that a woman should not lead the home, or the church, then why do “Christian” Americans think that a woman can rule a Nation and be involved in ruling the World?
