Are you drifting off course?
“PEOPLE DO NOT drift toward holiness.
Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness,
prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord.
We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance;
we drift toward disobedience and call it freedom;
we drift toward superstition and call it faith.
We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation;
we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking
we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness
and convince ourselves we have been liberated.”

It’s not a quote you can actually argue with, unless you really hate God.
I say hates God, because in John 14v21 Jesus says, ‘He who has My commandments and keeps them it is he who loves Me…’
Good quote.

Dora,
You are right that those who do not keep the Lord’s commandments actually hate the Lord despite all their claims otherwise. Part of the problem is they truly do love a god, but it is a god that they have created in their own minds. They have picked and chosen what they like about Jesus and fashioned it into their own ideal of Jesus, while ignoring the harder portions or the judgment and wrath to come. We all risk doing the same when we drift through life and focus more on what we desire and not focusing on Glorifying the Son.
I’m glad you liked the quote.
