Chosen For Judgment?

Here is a tough subject to ponder.

Does God chose some for judgment?

Romans 9:17-18 (ESV)

17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”
18 So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.

  1. This scripture is scary.

Proverbs 16:4, ‘The Lord has made all for Himself, yes, even the wicked for the day of doom.’

For me, that is so scary.

Also, consider that in the book of Revelation, it speaks of the beast and the false prophet. These two individuals have absolutly no hope of salvation whatsoever.

    They are doomed. Lost.

    We should fear.

    Dora,

There are many verses that, similar to these, show the Lord has plans for the wicked and their wickedness. These are some of the tough passages in Scripture that we often gloss over as if by not looking at them they really won’t exist.

Like you said we should all be in fear and awe of the Lord. He owes no one mercy and salvation. And by fear I do not mean the watered down “fear” that some try to use meaning respect, but I mean there should be a literal fear of the power and sovereignty of God and how everything we have and need is granted us by Him.
