Lemon Bars

Lemon Bars

Crust

  • 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

 Filling

  • 5 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup lemon juice (less if desiring milder lemon taste)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 11×7 inch pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, stir together 1 cup flour and confectioners’ sugar. Blend in the melted butter. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until golden.
  4. In the same mixing bowl, beat eggs until light. Combine the sugar, baking powder and 1 cup of flour so there will be no flour lumps. Stir the sugar mixture into the eggs. Finally, stir in the lemon juice. Pour over the prepared crust and return to the oven.
  5. Bake for an additional 30 minutes or until bars are set. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
  6. Refrigerate leftovers

  1. BW,
I love lemon bars (and so does my husband!)–we’ll have to compare this to our recipe–maybe they’re the same! If not, we’ll have to try them!
Also, re: “BP Fulfilling prophecy?” all I can say is “hmmm…” Everywhere I look in our world are signs that we’re in the end times. I continue to pray for God’s mercy on our country, and revival, and turning to the Lord, beginning with repentance of Christians. But I know we deserve His judgment. God proves in His Word, over and over, how longsuffering He is, even when judgment finally comes forcefully down, it’s never sudden or harsh, but always… longsuffering …is the only word for it.
2nd “Also”, How was church yesterday?
I’m thrilled at what the Lord is doing in our services–yesterday was amazing! God is certainly at work in a mighty way, and I praise Him. The challenge to my spiritual life was certainly felt, through the message from the Word (on Serving from the heart), the testimonies the men gave (the young men are becoming passionate about holiness, praise the Lord!!) and I got up, in response, at 5:30 a.m. this morning and had a lovely time in the Word. Thanks be to God!
    Blessings,

    Wendy,

Probably the recipes aren’t too different. Most of the ones I’ve seen varied very little from one another.

With future prophecy it will be interesting to see how the next few years go. I know all times have had their expectation that the end was near, so we could be looking at just a regular cycle or actually the end depending on your future interpretations of Scripture. No matter what, the events should make good launching points for a discussion of the faith.

Church is going very well and everyone seems to be adjusting well to the new format, even the many little children. Several sermons are online at the church website now, if you are interested. New Covenant Baptist Church Many have expressed renewed interest in learning more about the things in Scripture that they’ve never been taught; election, spiritual gifts, etc.

I’m glad to hear your corporate worship is producing fruit individually also. That is the way it should be. 🙂
