Then Will The Very Rocks Cry Out

The title of this song is Then Will The Very Rocks Cry Out however in my mind the title is If We Keep Our Voices Silent. 🙂

I sang this song when I was in high school in the youth choir at Dawson Memorial.  That was years ago but I remember it well.  I think it must have been one of my favorite choral arraignments we sang.

Then Will The Very Rocks Cry Out

If we keep our voices silent, all creation will rise and shout.
If we fail to praise you, Father, then will the very rocks cry out!
If we keep our voices silent, all creation will rise and shout.
If we fail to praise you, Father, then will the very rocks cry out!

From the corners of creation come the people of the Living God.
Every tongue and every nation gather now to praise the Lord.

If we keep our voices silent, all creation will rise and shout.
If we fail to praise you, Father, then will the very rocks cry out!
If we keep our voices silent, all creation will rise and shout.
If we fail to praise you, Father, then will the very rocks cry out!

From a world of tribulation, come and let your voice be raised.
Join us now in congregation. Let the Living God be praised.

Alleluia! alleluia! unto Him we offer praise.
Alleluia! alleluia! this song of joy to him we raise.
Alleluia! alleluia! In the heavens angels sing.
Alleluia! alleluia! give glory to the most high King!

If we keep our voices silent, all creation will rise and shout.
If we fail to praise you, Father, then will the very rocks cry out!
If we keep our voices silent, all creation will rise and shout.
If we fail to praise you, Father, then will the very rocks cry out!

Alleluia! Alleluia, Amen!

This is based on this passage in the Bible.

Luke 19:37-40 (ESV)

37 As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives— the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen,
38 saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”
40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

See if you don’t find yourself singing this after listening to it!

  1. Amen! We should have continual praise on our lips for our God. I confess, I do not praise this great and awesome God nearly enough; may the Lord forgive me.

Thank you for posting this song.

    Lyn,

I’m afraid it is easy to get so busy serving the Lord that we forget to actually praise him. 🙁

I hope you enjoyed the song. It has been played quite a bit here over the last few days. Sorta stuck in my head for some reason.

  2. Berean Wife,

The link you posted is from a college close to where we live. You didn’t go to that school did you?

Sorry I haven’t kept us with your posts recently, this summer has been so busy.

Last night I had the chance to lead a soul to Christ- Praise God! His name is Melvin. It blessed my heart.

    Take care,

    RW,

    Hello!

Nope, I didn’t go there to college. I’ve lived in “Bama” all my life.

No problem not keeping up. Sharing the gospel with others is much more important than reading my drivel. I hope Melvin becomes a true disciple of Christ and His Word.

Check out our church link sometime. We are just getting going well, but it has been such a fun journey since the end of May. You know how much trouble we had finding churches in this area. Now we are members somewhere that I can confidently invite others to visit.

That is a praise as well. It is difficult sharing the gospel and then trying to recommend a church for them to “plug” into.

I have checked our your church link and even listened to a sermon or two.

I pray the Lord continues to bless your church and that He is glorified in all that you do!
