Which Category Do You Fall Into?

Have you ever seriously contemplated whether or not you are saved?

Are you sure of it?

The last category below is the most dangerous.  I pray none of you will be found to be in that category, the one referenced by this passage in Matthew.

Matthew 7:22-23 (ESV)

22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’
And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Every living person, without exception, can be assigned to one of these categories. The categories are:

1) those who are saved and know it,

2) those who are saved but do not know it,

3) those (like the man I mentioned above) who are unsaved and know it, and

4) those who are unsaved but do not know it.

  1. I think the scariest part is when it says
    ‘in your name’.

In other words, we are doing these things, using God’s name, but without His approval, and believing we have His approval.

    Help Lord, help.

That was exactly my concern I shared in another comment previously. The fact that those who will be rejected were seriously trying to do things in the Lord’s name. They weren’t being intentionally deceitful or fake. They believed they were doing the Lord’s will and serving Him.

That should bring us in fear and trembling to the Lord begging for Him to mercifully reveal Himself and His will to us.
