Bible Verse Memory Tool

I don’t know when I first heard of using this method of Bible Verse memory but it was probably when I was a teen.  I didn’t use this much and it seemed to complicated to me to write out.  Maybe I should give it another try.  I definitely could use some help remembering verses and especially their references. 🙁

First Letter Verse Memorization

The key to this method is to write out the first letter of each word and using the first letter only as a prompt for saying the verse.

John 11:35  “Jesus Wept

Would become:

J 11:35 J w

Sounds complicated but it is helpful especially if you desire to keep the wording exact.

Try a longer set of verses:

Romans 8:28-30 (ESV)

28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

This becomes:

Romans 8: 28-30

A w k t f t w l G a t w t f g, f t w a c a t h p. F t w h f h a p t b c t t i o h S, i o t h m b t f a m b. A t w h p h a c, a t w h c h a j, a t w h j h a g.

Try it and see if that doesn’t help you recall a verse.

There is a website that will convert a Bible verse or any passage into the first letter of each word.

Memorization Tool –  {Note this isn’t a Christian site, just an education site.}

This works well for everything except numbers.  So I don’t recommend putting the references in, just the verses.
