Christ Crucified

Something to ponder.

How do your Christmas celebrations preach Christ crucified?

1 Corinthians 1:22-24 (ESV)
22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom,
23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,
24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

1 Corinthians 2:2 (ESV) For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

  1. This year we are going through a wonderful devotional that is tracing the lineage and signposts to Christ from the OT to the advent of our Messiah.

References to Christ’s sacrfice for our sins and soon return are woven throughout as well. Our children are enjoying it and the little ones are being educated in the true meaning of Christmas.

    Terry,

That sounds good. 🙂 Often the focus is so much on the birth that the purpose of the birth is ignored. Jesus was born to die for us. I’ve even heard SS teachers say not to share about the death of Christ with little ones because it might be too much for them. Strange though but children can speak of death more easily than many adults. Sometimes they embarrass us with speaking so frankly about death and dying.

My husband used to include in his SS lessons a portion called “Where’s the gospel?” pointing out how even obscure OT passages all point to the birth, death and resurrection of Christ.
