The data here is very interesting. It is a compelling reason to homeschool even if you ignore the main reason most Christian Families homeschool. While I feel homeschooling is important for building good strong Christian character and sound Christian doctrine, it is still good to know that we don’t have to do that at the expense of our children’s education. While good SAT scores are helpful that isn’t the bottom line for most homeschooling families.
Just a note: According to the chart homeschooling is saving American Tax Payers approximately 16 Billion dollars. That’s not petty cash!

That is really interesting. I emailed it to my dh!

This is exactly what I was saying to some younger Homeschooling moms on Sunday. It is important to know the reasons why you’re Homeschooling, and it’s usually not the academics as first reason for Christians. But, it is so reassuring to know the statistics relating to the success, academically, of Homeschoolers. I encouraged them to go to the NHERI site and get some of their helpful reports, to give to questioning family and “friends.”
Merry Christmas to you and your family, BW!
Love,
Wendy

Wendy,
Statistics like these really do help when others think you are going to ruin the children for the rest of their lives by homeschooling them. Thankfully now many people do know homeschoolers. When I started homeschooling I didn’t even know other homeschoolers. :0 Much less the rest of my family.
Have a safe and blessed weekend yourself,
