Psalm 5:4-6- For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; no evil dwells with You. The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity. You destroy those who speak falsehood; the Lord abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit.
Psalm 7:11- God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
Psalm 11:5- The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and the one who loves violence His soul hates.
Proverbs 6:16-19-There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.
Interesting thought. Can you tell me where or who you got this from? I have always said this to my children and if it cannot be supported byu Scripture, then I have to stop saying this. Thanks.
Sometimes it is hard to get down to the truth of things we’ve grown up being taught in church that have no Scriptural basis. But oh the better understanding of who God really is and not this man-made God many preach about. It is painful, exciting and encouraging all at the same time.
See the post So Where Does That Expression Come From?. From my research either St. Augustine or Mahatma Gandhi are typically accredited as beginning the quote. However, since then many, many preachers and even false teachers have been known to use that same expression.

Just to mention a few to consider…

Mark,
Thanks. As you said just a few of the verses that show otherwise.

Paul,
I’m working on a few posts about this one phrase that I hear so often. But essentially it cannot be supported by Scripture. More later.

Man…more and more I am finding the old ways being brought out of storage into the light of God’s truth. Thanks.

I believe the Dalai Lama is the one who said that.
