The Bondage of Fools

“There is no fool like the sinner,

who prefers the toys of earth to the happiness of heaven;

who is held in bondage by the foolish customs of the world,

and is more afraid of the breath of man,

than of the wrath of God.”

  1. Excellent quote sister, thank you for posting this. I was recalling earlier my own bondage to sin and this life, how I was miserable and yet I clung to my sins. Isn’t that amazing? We would rather live in bondage to temporal things and pleasures than live for Christ; praise be to God for His saving grace. I also read your free will post, very good. I am convinced the ‘free will’ gospel is an accursed one…

    blessings to you,

    LYN,

    Thank you.

    You know when I read this quote it struck me how well this season exemplifies this bondage – desire for the “toys” of the earth, foolish customs, and fear of offending men if you speak the truth. Even those who claim Christ still get caught up in this bondage to sin at times. Thankfully, as a loving Father, the Lord won’t let His own remain in their sin for long. Like you said many are miserable and yet cling to their sins. 🙁
