Irene Hunt – Across Five Aprils
link to book review
Across Five Aprils is a very good book about a boy’s “coming of age” during the Civil War. It tells about how the war affected him, his family, and everyone around him.

Review by Berean Daughter
I am putting together a Christian Literature class for my High school student and wanted to know if Irene Hunt was a Christian. We are planning on reading Across Five Aprils.
Thank you, Nan

Nan,
I really don’t know anything about Irene Hunt nor have I found out if she is a Christian or not. There is little information on her beyond the basics.

Do you have any other recommendations? So far we are reading: Screwtape Letters, Hiding Place, A walk to Remember, Hinds feet on High Places and In His Steps

Nan,
Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan
Chosen by God R.C. Sproul
Mother by Kathleen Norris
Basket of Flowers by Christoph von Schmid
Are a few of the additional books I would recommend for highschool students.
