When Ball Becomes Baal
By Jim Elliff
It’s rare to see kids playing sports in the neighborhood anymore. We’re now organized and “professionalized”—including uniforms, state-of-the-art facilities, endless trips to the field, competitive coaches, equally competitive parents, and the after-season tournaments designed to give parents “bleacher bottom.” In addition, you’ve got to pay to play—and when you’ve [...]

1 John 2:15-16
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world— the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but [...]

Yesterday I posted about Take Heed What You Read – AW Pink where you should give heed to what you fill your mind with as you read.
Isaiah has a good quote from Spurgeon about the same subject that One Mouthful Is Quite Enough. Be sure to think about the meat analogy.
But not only do we [...]

This may seem harsh, but the conclusion I have arrived at, over the years, is that if you, as a Christian, are sending your children to public school you are, at the very least, giving your children a disadvantage and strikes against them in their Christian walk. At the worse, you are defiantly disobeying God [...]

Have you ever wondered why you hear so often about Hindu worshippers being trampled by each other as the make pilgrimages to their temples?
Children trampled as 145 die in Hindu temple stampede
Over 100 People Trampled To Death In Stampede
I have always thought “How sad to die in such a way serving a false god!” Admittedly, [...]

Daniel 4:29-37
29 Twelve months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon,
30 he said, “Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?”
31 The words were still on his lips when a voice [...]

We studied about the Ten Commandments Sunday night. That particular night was focused on Exodus 20:4-6. Sitting there reading the verses while everyone was discussing the idols we make and worship, I was drawn to the portion that is usually left out of the Ten Commandments Exodus 20:5-6. Here are the KJV and NIV versions.
Ex [...]

Holiness Principle #2 – The Christian is called to be separate from worldliness.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18
14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in [...]

Last week the other problem that came up at church was concerning a Sunday evening service scheduled two weeks away.
Come meet the Bama Twins. They will give their testimonies and share their music. Afterwards there will be a time of fellowship with the twins, make pictures, [...]

Is the “still small voice” you hear the TV in the background?
You are addicted to the TV if…
… meals revolve around TV shows.
… bedtime is dictated by what time a particular show goes off.
… it is your best and cheapest babysitter.
… there are more TV jingles in your head than Bible verses.
… your child’s best [...]

I have just been reminded that it is almost August. Where is the summer going?
In July when I posted about TV Jingles, I warned Sicarii that there would be an August “Turn Off the TV” Challenge. I have challenged my church to do it before and will again. The church didn’t do too well L. [...]

This past week has been very sad and eye opening. I can understand why Jeremiah was the weeping prophet.
1. No one seems concerned about the porn on the Windstream ad. I only know of one other local person who has done anything about it. Windstream has refused to do anything. BSafe Online our internet security [...]

We had a very severe thunderstorm here after we got home from church. Continuous lightening and over 2 inches of rain caused me to be worried about tornados. I flipped on the TV to check for severe weather warnings. I shouldn’t have!! We live in the middle of nowhere, so when we have severe weather [...]

Does “Nothing” REALLY Mean “Nothing”?
PSALMS 101:3 “I WILL PUT NOTHING WICKED BEFORE MY EYES. I HATE THE WORKS OF THOSE WHO TURN AWAY. I WILL NOT LET IT FASTEN IT’S GRIP ON ME!”
“Recently I was able to talk with a young student about some things I have been burdened about. He confirmed the things [...]

CAMPONTHIS: FALLEN IDOLS…God’s Word is like a hammer smashing POMPkins
Reminds me of Dagon in the Bible.
1 Sam 5:1-51 After the Philistines had captured the ark of God, they took it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. 2 Then they carried the ark into Dagon’s temple and set it beside Dagon. 3 When [...]

David Wayne “…. Where I am going with this is that someone will often present with a problem they call “depression,” and will often have physical symptoms or devolution of moods. If we treat the physical symptoms too quickly we may mask the idolatry.
For example, consider the example of Amnon and Tamar in
II Samuel [...]
