Folks Get Bent Out of Shape Easily

According to Albert Mohler:

“… count the cost when you talk about yoga. These people get bent out of shape fast.”

Yahoo, Yoga, and Your’s Truly

We are in worse shape than we thought. I have heard from a myriad of souls who have called me insane, incompetent, stupid, vile, fundamentalist, and perverted. Some others are best left unrepeated. These souls claim to be Christian, but offer no biblical argument nor do they even acknowledge the basic fact that yoga, as a spiritual practice, runs directly counter to the spiritual counsel of the Bible. Instead, I have been treated to arguments like these. From a “devoted Southern Baptist church member who resents your ignorance”: I get much more out of yoga and meditation than I ever get out of a sermon in church. From “a Christian who goes to church every service”: My favorite image I use in yoga is that of Jesus assuming a perfect yoga position in the garden of Gethsemane as he prays. And, to cap it all off: How do we know that the apostles and early Christian guys did not use yoga to commune with Jesus after he left?

It appears that many folks got their toes stepped on.

I’ve noticed the same kind of things with other issues.  Sad commentary on those who claim to be “Christians”. 🙁

A Vacation to go to Church ?

We visited a small, local church Wednesday night because time didn’t allow for us to get to the churches we prefer to attend but that are a long drive for us.  During the sermon, the preacher complained about people taking vacations and not going to church.  My husband gave me a funny look at that statement.

You see we are taking a vacation in order to go to church.  We are driving out of town today and staying in a state park just outside of Muscle Shoals, Alabama.  Jeff Noblit‘s church Grace Life Church of the Shoals is in Muscle Shoals.  We will be visiting his church for Sunday morning and evening.  Paul Washer also attends this church but isn’t scheduled to preach.

My husband and I have been in Southern Baptist Churches all our lives but never one that was reformed in their theology.  We are interested in seeing a Reformed Southern Baptist Church such as Grace Life.  There has to be some good reason that Jeff Noblit, Paul Washer, Albert Mohler and Voddie Baucham are all still Southern Baptist.

So I will be out of pocket for a few days.  Please go ahead and leave comments they will just be held in moderation until I get back to them.  I have a few Noblit and Washer videos scheduled over the next couple of days so you can see why the interest in their church.

Teen Wins Against Father: Parents Everywhere Lost

I read the news article Quebec girl takes father to court over class trip this morning.

The dispute began in May when the girl had a disagreement with her stepmother. That prompted the father to forbid the girl to go on a three-day outing with her classmates to celebrate their last year in elementary school. The girl then moved to her mother’s house.”

However, that is not the full story, as Yahoo would have you believe.

“A Quebec father catches his daughter going to a friend’s to access websites he has banned her from viewing at home. On top of that, he finds she is posting inappropriate pictures of herself on the banned site. So he grounds her. Since this is not the girl’s first incident, the father also tells her she cannot go on the year-end, Grade 6 camping trip.” National Post

No wonder the world is in such sorry shape if this is how our judges and courts act. First of all, why in the world would anyone even think this was worthy of a court case? If parents are not allowed to punish or restrict their children’s activities then where do you stop? Shall we let the baby play in the road because he wants to?

“This judge needs to be grounded and sent to her room. A 12-year-old girl violated rules and disobeyed her father. The rules, by the way, were intended to protect the girl from endangering herself on the Internet. In posting pictures of herself on the Internet — on a dating site, for crying out loud — she defied her father and [h]is authority. After going to the court, she got away with it. … America’s parents had better look north and take notice. This judicial atrocity hits very close to home.” Albert Mohler, in  Another Chilling Precedent

And you thought things were bad already, just wait.

Malachi 2:2 (ESV) If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart.
