Our Fallen World

Genesis 1:31 And God saw everything that he had made,

and behold, it was very good.

How did the earth go from

“it was very good”

to this?

Man’s SIN!!!

Genesis 3:14-15
14 The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.

.” ESV

Genesis 3:17-19
17 And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return
.” ESV

Genesis 6:11-12

Psalms 119:103
How sweet are your words to my taste,
sweeter than honey to my mouth! ESV

Or maybe homemade strawberry jam!

Personal Note: We have killed four copperheads in four days! The serpent did not strike our heels but we have struck their heads. (Genesis 3:15) Thankfully, Jesus dealt the blow to Satan for us.

Our state has had hail storms, tornados, damaging straight line winds, derecho (That was a new one!), an earthquake, and flooding just this week! Talk about a world suffering from the effects of sin.

But we have been blessed immensely. No storm damage of any kind. No one bitten by snakes although the two in the picture were just in front of the flower bed while the children were all outside playing and working.

We have also enjoyed lovely flowers and we made lots of strawberry preserves.

But we await the New Heavens and the New Earth.

2 Peter 3:13 But according to his promise

we are waiting for

new heavens and a new earth

in which righteousness dwells. ESV

Life Has Been too Exciting for School

Thursday was in the seventies and a beautiful day.

Friday we had tornadoes and high winds all day.

Friday into Saturday, we had almost four inches of rain. Did you know that when a pond overflows it often carries fish with it? A higher pond behind us over flowed and water ran down to our pond which over flowed and ran to a creek …. Did I mention we had flooding! Therefore, we had fish flowing through our pasture in overflow streams. One of my sons thinks he needs to catch every one of them and put them in our pond. It was a strange sight the first time I saw large fish in a puddle acres from a pond.

Saturday and Sunday, we had high wind advisories, 30 – 40 mph winds.

Sunday morning we had three inches of snow. We were snowed in for morning church. Alabamians can’t drive in snow! Therefore, we built snowmen and played in the snow. Then we had a hot breakfast of grits and hot chocolate. That was followed by “snow cream” for dessert.

By the afternoon, we were able to attend an afternoon worship service and an evening worship service.

Sunday night the local sheriff was herding horses on our road with his cruiser and spot light.

Monday we spent rounding up horses that were still out. Rumor has it that all the area horses were out running wild Sunday night. Either the high winds spooked them (horses hate wind) or someone assisted them all in escaping.

Today, Wednesday, we have had Paragliding going on over our property all day. They are jumping and sailing from the mountain behind our house. Often we have had hang gliders but the paragliding is a new activity this year. Today there seems to be a class going on because there is at least one practicing just take offs and landings on the mountain top.

It is a beautiful day with temperatures in the 50’s. The Great Pyrenees dogs hate those big “hawks” flying over threatening their animals. So, they have to run barking and chase them away. I wonder what would happen if they caught one?

Or maybe then again Life was school. 🙂

Wonder what tomorrow’s lesson will be?
