About half fit me, BW.
I am definitely not a strong Calvinist, but I have some pretty big issues with arminian theology as well… I do like Spurgeon, though!
I don’t have an ESV, so I read *gasp* NIV and KJV. Lately I’ve discovered I’m an auditory learner, rather than someone who learns by reading stuff, so when I want to read I read NIV because it’s easier to understand at a certain level; my MP3 player has the whole KJV read by Alexander Scourby, who does a fantastic job!
Even without the video I still I enjoy the ESV text. To me it is as easy to read as the NIV but the wording is more accurate to the original and it follows closer to the KJV. You may find the Bible Reading Plan for the ESV helpful. I use it because I can read the text and listen to the audio simultaneously. You can get the audio as a podcast each day for an MP3 player.
When I volunteered at Save-A-Life I used a damp small sponge for “licking” envelopes. Worked well, no taste, no paper cuts. 🙂
That is nice to be able to get a book like Systematic Theology from a library. I think you will find it very enjoyable and rather easy for theology. The audios of Grudem teaching through his book can be found here.
My husband even used Grudem for Bible study with the children. They found it interesting and really enjoyed some of the deeper questions. Things that would have never been brought up in the typical SBC church. Of course, we don’t attend the typical SBC church any longer. Our church calls itself a “historical” SBC church.
I enjoyed listening to the audios a few years ago. Grudem teaches in a very easy and simple manner that even the children could understand while still covering deep subjects.
My husband and I gota good chuckle at this one. Thanks for the laugh. He thought the burning of the NIV study Bible was hilarious.

Love it! I said yesterday, if I wasn’t a Baptist preacher’s wife, I think I’d be a Presbyterian. And I just got Sys Theology on inter-library loan 😉

Theresa,
Hope your husband didn’t hear that!
