As seen on a local church sign:
Like George and Wheezy we are moving on up …
You can’t be young and get that reference.
This is referring to an old TV show from the 70’s and 80’s called The Jeffersons. The main characters George and Wheezy (Louise) Jefferson move from Queens to a luxury apartment in Manhattan. The theme song for the show was Moving on Up. One line went like this “Moving on up … to a deluxe apartment in the sky.”
Is Salvation just an upgrade to better accommodations?
Why must churches use such poor theology?
It is because they think the real truth of the gospel and the Bible are unable to get the attention of people and save them.

Perhaps the churches are scared of messages such as this?

Paul,
I don’t think most in the church even believes the message you linked to. If they did they would act differently don’t you think.

Yes and the population of the church would be substantially lower…uh, oh…maybe that’s the problem?

A couple of years back Pastor Winters of first Baptist Church in Maryville Il. was shot. At his funeral, this song was played…the visible church is clueless.

You mean the Jefferson’s song, right?

Yes, they played the theme from the Jeffersons. When he was shot, many thought it was a skit because they do skits quite often. this information came from a member of this church.

Lyn,
That is sad to think churches can be so deceived. I pity the poor souls who haven’t heard a clear presentation of the gospel all while sitting in church each week. Open up your Bibles and read it!

Ugh…people are getting so dull-headed these days. I watch people a lot, and I am noticing that the common sense trait that allows people to “get it”, just isn’t there anymore.
There’s another show from I guess it’s the 40’s? Amos and Andy…funnnny!
